Dabbling in Screenwriting

So, I got this idea into my head a month or two ago, that it might be a good idea to dabble in a bit of screenwriting. I mean I love film, I love writing; so it made sense to combine the two.

I considered buying a book on screenwriting and giving it a go in my spare time. But, with everything going on, I knew that I would  need more motivation.

So, I’ve signed up for the UCLA summer screenwriting course. I’m in awe of the students who previously took Richard Walter’s class, such as the writer of the fantastic “Milk” or blockbusters like “Jurassic Park” or “Spiderman.” It will be an interesting, if busy summer and I’ll keep you all posted as to how it’s going.

On an entirely different note, I’ve posted this week’s photo for any of you who are interested in taking part in this week’s writing exercise or prompt, it’s over here.

Oh I’ve attended a summer school in UCLA almost eight years ago! It was on psychology and it was really fun! I’m jealous now- screenwriting sounds wonderful Olive, I hope you’ll enjoy it 🙂

  5. Fantastic that you’re trying new formats! I believe this is a wonderful source of inspiration and I’d love to see Perry on the screen.

If I may make a few suggestions, there’s the #scriptchat on twitter and on facebook. (Sunday 8pm EST if I’m not mistaken, and there’s an European version that goes earlier) The hostess @jeannevb is fantastic, and there’s @karenquah, really funny intelligent and helpful.

Having contact with writing communities, even before starting the course is illuminating and very inspiring! Hope this helps. 🙂

  6. Go Olive – sounds exciting… good luck with it all
