{"id":326,"date":"2010-07-05T03:53:35","date_gmt":"2010-07-05T10:53:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/writeolive.com\/?p=163"},"modified":"2010-07-05T03:53:35","modified_gmt":"2010-07-05T10:53:35","slug":"guest-post-by-ann-ormond-fennell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/oliveobrien.com\/?p=326","title":{"rendered":"Guest Post &#8211; by Ann Ormond Fennell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/writeolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Picture-0021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-164\" title=\"Ann Ormond Fennell\" src=\"http:\/\/writeolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Picture-0021.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"111\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a><\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I\u00a0am a wife, a mother of four adult children and dare I say it a \u2018Writer\u2019, an unpublished writer.\u00a0 I divide my time between Wisconsin and Ireland, spending the summer months at home, in Ireland.\u00a0\u00a0 I created my blog <a href=\"http:\/\/inkpotsandquills.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Inkpots N\u2019 Quills<\/a> in October 2009 which has been described by a fellow writer and blogger as, \u2018varied from writing to life.\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 Check it out.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last night I was asked what do you write.\u00a0 The question stumped me!\u00a0 I know this might sound strange but I really have not given much thought to identifying a genre for myself. Not at this stage anyway, I am an unpublished writer.\u00a0 In the past saying I am \u201c unpublished\u201d shuts this topic of conversation down, letting me off the hook.\u00a0 Not the case this time!\u00a0 I was left struggling with the question.\u00a0 I floundered around trying to formulate a description of my writing.\u00a0 I rather feebly said, \u201cLife.\u201d\u00a0 Now isn\u2019t that an all-encompassing reply.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t all writing Life! My reply dissatisfied me as much as my company.\u00a0\u00a0 I found myself unable to qualify what I meant by Life.\u00a0 I turned to my sister in law, who has read my blog musing and asked her could she describe my writing style.\u00a0 She seemed baffled by the question too!\u00a0 In the crevices of my mind and emboldened by a glass of wine, I said, a fellow student in a writing class told\u00a0 me once, my style reminded her of one of her favorite writers, Cathy Kelly.
