Luckily, we had reserved tickets to the crown some months ago and took the rather demanding climb up, but it was well worth it in the end.

The other sites included the Empire State Building of course, the Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Met, the Guggenheim, the World Trade Centre site and also wandering around just about every square inch of Manhattan. The only area we didn’t get to walk through was Hell’s Kitchen.

The main attraction was Mr. Al Pacino himself. Indeed for me, it was the highlight of the whole trip. Pacino is putting in a stellar performance as Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice” on Broadway. I have been a fan of Tony Montana a.k.a. Carlito Brigante a.k.a. Michael Corleone since I can remember, so it was a little overwhelming to see the man in the flesh, so to speak.

He did not disappoint the fans and his performance on stage was mesmerising.

Also, by chance we came across an event that Sir Michael Caine was taking part in, called Reel Pieces at the 92Y centre. Sir Michael gave a 2-hour interview and provided the lucky audience with an insight into Hollywood and his amazing career. We managed to snag a signed book at the end too.

We stayed at a beautiful apartment in the historic district in Chelsea and while shopping for cheese at Chelsea Market, I spotted actress Liv Tyler, shopping at the same cheese counter. How random.

And while we were waiting at the airport for our flight back home, we spotted Mr. Bruce Jenner, otherwise known as Kim Kardashian’s step-father who you will be familiar with if you are a reality TV junkie like me and a fan of “Keeping up With the Kardashians.”

I’ll definitely be back some day, even for just some celebrity-spotting, hehe.

I’m just about over the jet-lag from our trip to NYC.
